Understanding and experiencing the emotions of another person, while maintaining a sense of justice and not getting carried out by their emotions is termed empathy.

Again empathy is different from sympathy. Sympathy is to feel sorry for someone, or pity, and see them as inferior or weaker.

  2. You are in a meeting with a teammate who seems unsettled and upset. Instead of reacting safely or ignoring his emotions, you ask him if everything is okay and offer your support.

Empathy is a natural human ability and it varies from person to person. Some people are more empathetic than others.

It is not advised to categorize people into specific “types” of empaths, as empathy is a complex term and is unique to each individual. However, on some information grounds, we managed it into types.

  • Emotional Empathy
  • Intuitive Empath
  • Super Empath
  • Narcissist Empath
Emotional Empathy

I am an empath, my feelings naturally come from me.

You must consider yourself an empath, If you feel that you are highly familiar with the emotions of others and have a strong ability to understand and share their feelings.

It is possible that you have a natural tendency toward empathy. Empathy is a valuable skill that can help us build strong relationships.

It helps to communicate effectively, and navigate complex social situations. However, being an empath can have its own set of challenges. Overemotional can make you feel emotionally low at times attending emotions of others.

It is important for empaths to find healthy ways to manage their own emotions. If you are the person feeling overwhelmed or are having difficulty managing your emotions, don’t wait. Speak with a mental health professional or another trusted resource for support.

I too have been called an empath in times when I find myself too emotional and sensitive. Getting emotional over things and taking things personally is what I’ve been known for. And yes I’ve been criticized over it now and for a long time, but it doesn’t stop me from being over-emotional.

As human nature, my feelings are too shattered at times when someone gives me criticism, but yes when there is something negative peeping up, there are tons of positive moments in what I cherish.

Intuitive Empath
Intuitive empath

An intuitive empath is a person who has a strong ability to feel the emotions and experiences of others naturally. It is a natural phenomenon that comes into a person over experience or inner knowing.

Such people are able to sense the emotions and intentions of others on a deeper level. They may be able to pick up on faint signals and nonverbal communication.

This ability to understand can be both a strength and a challenge, as it can help intuitive empaths to build strong relationships and solve difficult social situations.

As also mentioned earlier, it can also be emotionally draining if you are constantly attuned to the emotions of others.

Super Empath

There is no scientific or psychological term called “super empath.” Empathy is a natural human ability that varies in strength and intensity from person to person.

Some people may be more empathetic than others and are called Super empaths, but it is not correct to label someone as a “super empath.”

It is important to recognize and appreciate the unique qualities of each individual. Every individual is unique with different strengths, so rather than trying to categorize or label them you are more harming them than doing good.

If you feel you are one, get help and speak with a mental health professional or another trusted resource for support.

Narcissist Empath

Narcissism and empathy are two distinct personalities or characteristics. Narcissism is characterized by a sense of dignity, covert narcissism, a dark triad, a lack of empathy, manipulation, and a need for admiration and attention.

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. But sometimes both Narcissist and Empathy can go together. It is possible for someone to be self-centered and also have the ability to be empathetic.

But it’s common for people with self-centered personality traits to struggle with empathy. Again I caution you not to try to label someone as a “narcissist empath” or Emotional Manipulation that could be harmful.

If you are concerned about your own or someone else’s Emotional Abuse that impacts relationships, get help from a mental health professional for support.
