Looking for community service or small business ideas for teenagers? Well, I say your search is over, here are ample opportunities you can do as a teenager. Finding Startups as a teenager is very difficult.
I will provide you with the best opportunities you might like to work. So, Let’s check the article on the best small business ideas for teenagers.
What are Small Business Ideas for Teenagers?
This is surely one of my favorite topics. Here are tips and strategies to help you change the world while living a life of impact and purpose.
Teens you are awesome! As a teen, you want to make a difference and use your skills and talents to help change the world. But the world doesn’t always make it easy for you. I get you. I’ve been there and understand the situation.
I’ve broken down small business ideas for teenagers into 3 sections.
1] Community Service Ideas for Teens
It is the dedicated community ideas that meet nonprofits’ existing needs.
One way I work is through my nonprofit work. I regularly engage with people of all ages to connect them to volunteer opportunities with hundreds of causes in my local community.
I know and understand that finding volunteer service opportunities is a kind of challenge for teens. But that doesn’t mean it is impossible if you’re a teen, or a parent, who has tried to find community service opportunities, you can still join them Part-time.
You may have discovered some difficulties in finding volunteer opportunities that will take people under 18.
Finding service opportunities that are accessible, or nearby, or finding the right opportunities that fit your special skills and interests.
Let’s see the inside scoop. You might have heard this already. But it’s not that nonprofits don’t want to work with teens.
On the contrary, many do. Teens are smarter! And this generation especially is kicking some serious butt in the social change arena.
But nonprofits may face liability issues when it comes to working with volunteers under the age of 18.
Other things might stand in the way of teens getting involved. Like access to transportation, or school or after-school work schedules, which make it difficult to get opportunities that line up.
One thing’s for sure, though – teens can and have changed the world through service. I’ve met plenty of them through my own work.
Teens organize plastic waste reduction campaigns, plan events to combat bullying in their schools, and so much more.
2) Unique Service Project Ideas that Teens actually love.
They can design and lead to help a cause they care about. It could be anything from teaching, collecting, or volunteering.
These are some unexpected, unique ways that you can get involved in service as a teen. I always like to draw attention to some of these unique ways to give back, because people have such specific ideas about volunteering and what it entails.
Opportunity as a Teacher for the Community
Not everyone has a teaching ability, but if you do so then it’s a great way to share your skills in the community. Teaching is a broader concept. You may have a special talent in
- Technical skills,
- Internet skills,
- English language skills or
- Driving safety lessons, and
- Many many more.
You can utilize any one of these talents to teach students Part-time who are especially poor and contribute to society. One can also start home-based tutor services from the online internet.
Collecting and Donating to the Community
There is a great need for volunteers who can pick, collect and donate to the community. We can find many places which accept donations, like small NGOs, and foundations which include schools, family shelters, food pantries, etc. Here are a few examples of it
- Collection of School supplies and donations,
- collecting, and donating backpacks,
- collecting and donating hygiene products
- Collecting unwanted clothes, recycling them, and distributing them
- Collecting abandoned animals and providing them shelter homes.
- Collect school books and donate them to children and the library.
- Collect and donate nonperishable items.
3] Creating Opportunities
Usually, when people think of volunteering they’re thinking of very well-known opportunities. Like serving in a soup kitchen or at a shelter or building a home with Habitat for Humanity. And volunteering definitely includes those things. You can also serve Part-time by,
- Visit Cancer hospitals or people with serious diseases and spend time
- Meeting older people in old age shelter homes
- Visiting child home for abandoned children.
- Visiting prisoners and spending time with them.
- Clean a local park
- Grow trees every week, and
- Help neighbors who are sick and aged.
But it includes a lot more! A quick disclaimer is that of course, these opportunities will vary by city and state, but the ones that I’m going to share I’ve seen in a couple of different areas.
Let’s check what are more Small Business Ideas for Teenagers.
1] Join a Teen Advisory Board or a Junior Board.
Work Part-time alongside the organization that you care about’s leadership.
Shape the vision, raise money for the cause, and be a spokesperson for that cause. It’s pretty awesome.
Teen advisory boards and leadership boards are an excellent way to hone those leadership skills and look great on a college application.
2] Make Videos or Take Pictures!
This is such a cool way for teens to be able to use their skills to help nonprofits tell their super-important stories. I know so many nonprofits who need this.
So this would mean maybe that you are helping by taking videos at a nonprofit’s big events, helping interview the clients that they serve, or taking pictures of some of the ways that they’re making an impact. Also, learn How to Earn Money on YouTube.
I even know a lot of animal shelters really love to have people take photos of the animals that they’re trying to get adopted because having that really good picture helps those animals. This is a huge way that teens can make an impact using the skills they already have today.
3] Number three is being a Puppy Raiser.
This is a great way to show the parents that you are very responsible and definitely deserve to have a pet of your very own.
So a puppy raiser – I’m sure there could also be a Kitty raiser – is a volunteer that helps an animal nonprofit raise and socializes their pets that are up for adoption.
So this could mean that you are fostering the pet in your home. It means you can start a low-investment, home-based business as a puppy raiser. Spend time with the animal or help train the animal, and a lot of other things are involved in getting the animal ready for adoption.
4] The fourth idea is to use your Writing Skills!
When I was a teen I loved to write, and I’ve met so many teens today that are also really good writers. And nonprofits need your help to write articles for their blog content, their website, social media posts, and more. Great home-based, low-investment small business ideas for teenagers.
Writing is such an important skill to have, and it translates to anything you could possibly want to do in life, so why not use it to help a cause that you care about?
5] Another idea is to Host a Group Discussion.
Group discussion on a really important issue that you care about. I know this seems too easy to be a legit community service opportunity, but I promise you that it is.
There are national organizations that are trying to raise awareness about different issues. Especially global issues that we’re facing across the whole world.
They really rely on everyday people spreading the word and talking to their friends and engaging in really interesting and in-depth debates about the issues that people are facing.
So if you love to have great conversations and are good at getting your friends involved, this could be a really cool low-investment opportunity for you.
6] The next idea is a Graphic Design Volunteer!
So many nonprofits need people with a great eye for design and graphic design technical experience. Low-investment business idea who can create flyers, posters, logos, or website graphics – you name it.
If you’ve got graphic design skills and this is something you have fun doing, this is an awesome way for you to be able to help a cause that you care about.
It doesn’t hurt that everything you do can go into your design portfolio. Start this home-based business as a Graphic designer.
There are some amazing nonprofit theatres across the country that need people to help with a variety of things that they do.
From being a puppeteer to being an actor in one of their productions, or even designing or painting their props for the stage. So if you’re someone who already loves drama and the stage, this could be for you.
7] You could Design a Social Media marketing Campaign.
The social media marketing campaign for the cause that you care about! This might mean a series of photographs on Instagram that tell the story of the impact the cause is making.
It could be a campaign that shares facts and statistics about the problem that the nonprofit is trying to solve.
Another cool idea I’ve seen is when a group of people organizes a fundraiser by streaming video games.
So it doesn’t have to be super big-time – to have millions of people watching – even getting some of your friends together and challenging your friends or your school to watch and donate money could really help the cause that you care about in your community.
8] Are you Pretty Artistic?
Another low-investment, home-based small business idea for teenagers is to become Artistic. Maybe you want to consider designing a mural for a building that a non-profit occupies. Here’s one that’s really great for the environment – upcycling! you could organize an upcycling or recycling party.
Challenge your friends to all bring something that their family was going to throw away anyway, and then come up with cool crafts ideas and how to reuse those things.
As a bonus, you could do a campaign showing the before and after of what you did to transform that item to help the environment.
A lot of different forms – from painting kindness rocks that you can then lay out all over your neighborhood or school.
To letter-writing campaigns where you are just telling other people in your community, whether they’re friends or even strangers. Tell them how amazing they are and give them a little bit of encouragement for the day.
9] The final idea for a project that you can Design and lead yourself is to Organize a Resource day.
This is an event where you are basically spreading the word to people in your school or community or neighborhood. Show them all of the resources available to help them with a particular thing.
It might be where they can go for mental health support, where to go if they need help with basic needs like clothing or food, or maybe even where they might find jobs or job training resources.
The idea is that if more people know about and have access to these resources, they will be better off and get the help that they need in whatever area you’re tackling.
10] Society Service Ideas.
I want to talk about ways you can combine community service and helping causes that you care about with other things you just have going on in your life, like driver’s education or after-school activities.
These ideas are great if you just have a busy schedule, but really want to find a way to fit service into your everyday life. Number one- Combining community service with an after-school job!
A great way to get the best of both worlds is to invite your coworkers to be involved in a project for charity.
A lot of businesses are already involved in something to help the community or are looking for ways to get involved. So there’s no reason that you can’t be the leader of this initiative and get your whole company involved in something great.
When I was a teenager I worked after school at a bakery and I saw one day that we were throwing away all of the pastries that were uneaten.
So I worked with the manager to help organize a way to donate those leftover pastries to the local food pantry so that they wouldn’t go to waste.
There are ways to build service into pretty much any type of workplace. If you work at a restaurant or some kind of grocery store there might be opportunities to find a way to donate that leftover food or even organize a food drive for a cause in the community.
If you work in retail or some kind of clothing store, you might be able to find inventory that isn’t going to be sold and make sure it gets to a good cause.
Also, try to organize a campaign with your manager to allow customers to donate some amount of money to a cause whenever they check out.
If the place you work is looking for awesome team building or a training opportunity, why not volunteer together?
